Eight Steps to a Successful Campaign
1. Review your organization´s history.
How much was contributed in the past?
How many employees gave?
What was the per capita gift?
What was the average gift?
How many used payroll deduction?
Meet with last year's coordinator or keyworker.
Read material provided by CFC.
2. Get your Boss involved.
Your director's support and enthusiasm is contagious. Ask him/her to:
Write a letter to each employee asking for their support and encouraging payroll deduction.
Support a Leadership Giving meeting.
Personally solicit senior management before the organization-wide kickoff. Their leadership sets an example for other contributors.
Participate in campaign meetings, underscoring the importance of the campaign to both your organization and the community.
3. Set a challenging goal.
Be ambitious yet realistic as you set a total dollar goal.
Set goals around increasing participation, payroll deduction and the average gift.
4. Recruit a team to help you.
Don´t try to do it alone! Recruit a team representative of your organization. Assign members of the team to specific duties and responsibilities.
By working together, you will have a head start on achieving your goal.
5. Determine campaign strategies.
Plan the campaign with your team and CFC staff or Loaned Executives.
Develop a timetable.
Decide the best way to approach co-workers. Employees can be asked to contribute in groups or one at a time.Group solicitation: A quick, efficient process for contacting all employees. One large rally can be a lot of fun and very effective, however, having a few smaller rallies can sometimes work better when there are differing employee schedules. Click on "The Campaign Rally" on the Toolkit main page.
One-on-one solicitation: Involves the personal solicitation of one employee by another. This can be used as a follow up to a rally or for those who may have missed the rally. Promote and educate.
Some ideas are:
Send e-mails, hold an agency fair, schedule tours to CFC charities.
Circulate CFC materials personally or in a way that creates attention.
Most importantly...have fun!
6. Implement your strategy. Here are some tips:
Make sure upper management has been solicited prior to kickoff.
Schedule a short intensive campaign to keep enthusiasm up.
Organize rallies using the CFC video and agency speakers.
Report progress to your boss.
Make sure everyone has a chance to give, including those on vacation or sick leave.
7. Report results to CFC.
Complete your campaign and report the results as soon as possible.
Follow the instructions on the back of the report envelope accurately to properly credit your organization´s campaign.
8. THANK contributors!
Your co-workers made it happen.
Say "thank you" to everyone for taking the time to listen and learn more about the importance of CFC in our community.
Thank everyone for completing a pledge card.
Acknowledge all employees who helped during the campaign.
Hang "thank you" posters in break rooms and elevators.
